Preston Wedding Photography - Farington Lodge

Owen and Sally Got Married!

I love autumn and when Owen and Sally first booked me and told me they were having a autumn wedding at Farington Lodge I was super excited. This Lancashire hotel is quite close to where I live and it looks stunning in all seasons, but with the change in the leaves it really glows with red tones, so I really wanted to photograph my own wedding at this top Preston venue! Owen and Sally are super laid back and really didn’t want a massive wedding with lots of fuss, just a big party with all their nearest and dearest and that is exactly what they did!

Relaxed Wedding Photography

When Owen and Sally first booked me they were clear that they loved photography and capturing the key moments, but that they really didn’t want lots of posing pictures, more natural moments of them getting married and all the fun with their guests! My style is very relaxed and my couples book me because of this, I don’t do any formal posing, only for the group family photographs.

Bridal Preparations

I met up with Sally, her daughters and her mum in the bridal suite at Farington Lodge, everyone was super excited! I always like to take photographs of the dress, flowers, shoes. Sally had a sixpence for her shoe and an extremely special wedding ring which was her late fathers, and had been sown into her wedding dress so that although he would not be there on the day, a part of him was with her as she was walked down the aisle by her brother. It literally brought a tear to my eye as it was such a lovely gesture and so sentimental. Sally had chosen a beautiful coffee coloured full lace gown with a fish tale and she looked amazing! My second photographer, Jane from Daisy Chain Photography, was with Owen and his groomsmen and spent some time taking relaxed portraits.

Relaxed Ceremony

Owen was waiting for his bride, Sally, with his young son as his best man by his side. It was super emotional when Sally walked down the aisle, everyone was crying and they embraced when they saw each other for the first time! The wedding ceremony was filled with lots of laughs and a few more tears as they made their vows and then added some additional personal vows before sealing the deal with the traditional first kiss! After the wedding the guests were treated to some glorious autumn sunshine to relax out in with their wedding breakfast drinks before group formals and confetti.

Farington Lodge Grounds

After the formalities were completed I went for a little walk with the newlyweds and as we chatted about the day the sun gave us the most beautiful autumn light for the couples relaxed portrait session. Owen and Sally did nothing but laugh the whole time, and as the grounds are so stunning at Farington, I had no shortage of great spots, I especially loved the outdoor ceremony area, and the ivy wall at the front of the hotel - gorgeous!

Afternoon Tea and Speeches

Owen and Sally wanted everyone to feel really relaxed and just have a good time, so they decided against the traditional 3 course meal, for a afternoon tea. Such a great idea and it meant that there the newlyweds could get up and chat with their guests more easily. After the meal the speeches followed and Sally was super emotional as she paid tribute to her late father, Owen’s young son even did a little speech with the help of her grandfather by his side.

Time To Party

Owen and Sally are massive music fans and often go to the concerts and so I knew that they would be the first on the dancefloor and would still be on it when I was leaving, which they were!

Owen and Sally thank you for choosing me to be your wedding photographer, I had a great time celebrating with you both, here are my favourite images from your day, enjoy!
