Viking Bride Styled Shoot At Bashall Barn - Lancashire Wedding Photography

Lagertha Viking Inspired Bridal Shoot At Bashall Barn

I LOVE Vikings! So, when the opportunity arose to do a Bridal styled shoot at Bashall Barn, Clitheroe based around queen Lagertha, I jumped at the chance! How could I not, a total dream come true for me and one of my favourite shoots to date. Bashall Barn is a unique wedding venue in the heart of the Ribble Valley and one of my favourite places to photograph a wedding. With cow sheds and a brand new woodland ceremony area it was the perfect location for our shoot backdrops. Plus, I had seen the doors which open to reveal the woodland ceremony area and I just knew that I needed to shoot in front and through these huge wooden doors!

Winter Vibes On Shoot Day

On the morning of the shoot there was a thick blanket of fog - quite a scary experience driving on the motorway! It was already a bitterly cold December morning and the fog just added to the atmosphere. I was really hoping it would still be around when we were shooting, unfortunately it had almost gone by the time the team was ready, you can still see a hint if you look closely. The fog did leave a beautiful sunny afternoon, winter sun can be so delicious to shoot in!

Vibrant Eyes & Braids For Days

This seems like a big ask, but with LouMac on makeup and Gemma on hair it was always going to look amazing. Model Liv was a true star and really embraced the ask of ‘being Lagertha’ I am sure you will agree she looked stunning. Lou had decided that Liv would wear a strong eye colour and a nude lip, contrasting greens and amber tones. Gemma has such a skill with braiding hair, she even had time to add a Dutch braid to my own hair! Gemma started with crimping Liv’s hair before adding those all important Viking inspired braids.

Wedding Dress With Dusky Blue Tulle Skirt & Cape

When looking at options for the ‘dress’ it was clear that a full skirt and a cape were a must for real Viking authenticity. Legend Bridal have been designing and making their own creations for many years, when I reached out to Charlotte and explained our shoot brief, she instantly got the ‘dress’ that I had envisaged, with a full tulle skirt in a dusky blue, star shaped buttons and a CAPE it was quite simply perfect.

Final Touches

The winter Viking inspired bouquet was a mixture of pheasant feathers, foliage, berries and cream roses, the brief was to keep everything nice and natural, as though the flowers had been picked in the morning from the woodland, totally beautiful. With chunky bridal jewellery, a twig crown and snow confetti the overall look was complete. This shoot was incredible, a total dream in everyway and I loved being a part of it working alongside leading Lancashire wedding suppliers. So, if you are looking for alternative wedding inspiration and amazing suppliers, then take a look at our shoot.

Enjoy love Laura xx
